Thesis Intent

The shrine, crocodile pond and bazaar are considered to be the anchor points of the locality. The project will address the depleted condition of the over-all sanctuary and would target the process to facilitate its users towards a sacred paradigm.

The overall aim of the project is to:


1) Design a Green Lung for the people of Karachi at suburb.
2) Invite people's attention towards the Unsung Heritage
3) Design a place where people can fascinate, relax and respect the nature.




 

Introduction

The Manghopir Shrine, located in the suburbs of Karachi is approximately 7 miles away from City Center - Saddar. 

Manghopir - the unsung heritage - is a spot of attraction due to the historical events enveloped, shrouded and weaved in years of traditions, folklore and heritage. Associated with crocodiles, hot warm springs, and myths of Sufi Peer Haji Syed Khawaja Hassan Sakhi Sultan, Manghopir has its own distinct flavor of environmental, geographical, historical and religious aspects.

The Shrine has been of great importance as it harmonizes people of different beliefs and backgrounds. Shrine and its other features attract visitors through out the year.
